The following is a list of biographical profiles that we are working on.  Consider these pages a hub for the individual that connects them to all of the documentation that we currently have in our Wiki, and to their profile within the tree.  Here we will also write a description of that person’s life, thoughts on research, and possible items of future research to look for.

Profiles for Sheldon daughters also include all of her known descendants.  Living people are listed only as “living”, with no personal information provided here.

About the Author:

Dale has been studying genealogy heavily for over 30 years, since the age of 10. Although he does not seek professional clients, he has helped a family regain property lost during the Holocaust, and has assisted to obtain historical preservation status for a building in San Francisco. He is a co-admin of the ftDNA Sheldon DNA Project. He lived most of his life in California but has recently moved to upstate New York. He works in the travel industry.

Include Your Ancestors

We are building a worldwide Sheldon database from scratch. Everything in the database will be documented and sourced. If your ancestors aren’t here, and you would like them to be included, please let us know!

Rev. Henry O. Sheldon

The Rev. Henry O. Sheldon is often considered the grandfather of Sheldon genealogy. While traveling as a preacher he met other Sheldons and wondered how they were all related. Eventually, he began collecting genealogies & piecing the various Sheldon branches together, first published in 1855 as the Sheldon Magazine. From his private journal: Monday, 4th of May, 1818, age 19, the start of his travels:

“Snowed some last night – roads wet and splashy – At half-past eleven A.M. started on a western tour – took an affectionate leave of my parents and brother and sister after receiving their advice & prayer for my preservation, — rode 25 miles – The day was wet & cold & stormy – Winds N.W.”
